IMO, you don't. In the end its not her baby anyway.

you can most definitely invite her, she would definitely say no...
you might be the mother but since you opted for surrogacy there should be a level of maturity in you.

what if she say yes? wouldn't that be awkward? it should be your party... so I guess you give her a thank you note?

I vote: don't invite her. chances are she wont know anybody there. I mean its going to be your baby ergo your friends are going to be invited. It does not make sense to have a baby shower and then invite the surrogate's friends...what purpose would that serve?

She would be the odd man out. It would be better not to invite her. But if you know the surrogate. Example if she is a friend who volunteered and also knows your other friends then it would be OK.
