Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

Nothing says ‘home’ like the smell of homemade oatmeal cookies fresh out of the oven. There’s something about this wholesome treat that brings families together, even if it is to fight over the last cookie. Enjoy this cookie recipe! We certainly did.

Makes about two dozen cookies.

Ingredients
¾ cup brown sugar
½ cup butter (or one stick), softened
1 ¼ cups oatmeal
3 tablespoons whole milk (soy or rice milk)
1 egg
1 cup flour
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
¾ teaspoon ground cloves
½ cup raisins
½ cup chopped walnuts
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, prepare the cookie sheet with butter.

Cream the brown sugar and butter in a mixing bowl. Add the oatmeal, milk and egg, stirring together. In a smaller bowl, put the flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and cloves. Gradually mix in the oatmeal mixture. Stir in the walnuts, raisins and vanilla.

Now drop the dough using a tablespoon. Space the dough about 1 inch apart on the cookie sheet. Bake for only 8 to 10 minutes.

Presto! Food for the soul!
