My niece is turning one in a couple of months. I'm trying to get party ideas but my sister would really want an "underwater sea adventure" kind of theme... I just don't think it's appropriate and safe... Can anyone help us come up with a good idea on how to do it? thanks!

you can dress up like you're going to the beach or sumthin'.
decorate the place with a "underwater" feel... you don't necessarily have to dip in the pool... just a theme... get some starfish decorations, flowers, floaters, pails, and the like.

and you can have your nce dress in a mermaid suite, just make sure that its comfortable
