I usually position my baby on his back when he sleeps. As a result, his head has become flattened. I'm starting to let him sleep on his side... will it bring his head back to a normal shape?

That can actually still be corrected through proper positioning. Usually it would go back to normal by one year of age. same with babies that are "cone head".
