I usually position my baby on his back when he sleeps. As a result, his head has become flattened. I'm starting to let him sleep on his side... will it bring his head back to a normal shape?

Yes. Baby skull is still soft so the flatness will go away. If he is sleeping on his back turn his head to either side every hour or so.

When your baby reaches 5 or 6 months, most of them would already turn to their sides when asleep... Shifting of their position would really help bring their head back to the normal or maybe close to normal shape.
