my 3 month old has some rashes around his neck especially below his chin.
what could that be and how should it be treated?

usually the cause of rashes around the neck, elbow, chin, nape and other unexposed part of your baby's body is due to constant sweating, allergies with the diapers or the baby powder you are using. some babies are just having that very delicate skin so be sure you are giving him/her the best to avoid skin rashes.

never ever attempt do some self medication with your baby's sensitive skin, it may only worsen the case. allergies, rashes and some sorts are common to babies and yet giving them the wrong remedy will only put their health at risk. you need to take a look at the possibilities why your baby has skin rashes like where he lies down, or he is conducive to allergens.

your baby could just have sensitive skin and its being bothered by drool/slobber. teething maybe could cause extra saliva that is just irritating the skin however 3 months is very early for that, my 5 mo old just is a slobber king and sometime his chin and neck get really red, i just have to try and keep him dry. just and idea for you. also my baby has big neck rolls and they get red in the creases but this is normal from the skin rubbing together and from drooling and ect. i would just say to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse just call your pediatricians office and ask them for advise. goodluck!

What I thought looked like "heat rash" on my 5 mo old, pediatrician said was Eczema. I had no idea! Anyway, he suggested Eucerin lotion or Aquaphor. I chose the Eucerin and it cleared up almost immediately. I'd suggest your doctor take a look at it to confirm whether Eczema or not.

My baby has the same thing at 6 weeks. Pedia said it was acne exacerbated by spit up and to just keep her as dry as possible.

My son had heat rash recently. It was worst under his chin - lots of little bumps - pink but not red, and not really spotty. It spread a little onto his cheeks and a little onto his belly. Dr. said try to keep him cool, wear loose clothing and use cornstarch powder (not talc) to absorb any sweat. It lasted for about a week..Didn't seem to bother him though.

My daughter had this at about 2-3 months old. My pedia said it was a yeast infection from drool, and formula dripping down her chin and pooling around her neck. She never really had much of a neck until about 5 months.. Anyway they wrote a prescription and it cleared up right away.

Hope that helps!
