is it true that babies who sleep on their tummies are high risk for SIDS or sudden infant syndrome? if so, why's that??? they look so peaceful sleeping that way...

babies usually roll from their back to their side or their tummy when they reach 6 months old, so you can't really keep them to sleep on their back all the time. It is still advisable though that you let your child sleep on their back since it is the safest position and it is least associated with sudden infant death syndrome.

adele - i never really found a concrete explanation as to why. but i think sleeping in a prone position can lead to a possibility of difficulty in breathing, don't you think?
