How does congenital cardiovascular defects occur? and how does one avoid that from happening???

There is really no specific or direct cause for congenital cardiovascular defects but infection is one suspect. It is also associated with moms who acquired measles during pregnancy. I guess a healthy pregnancy would help you avoid CCD.

It is really important to have a safe pregnancy. A complete pre-natal check up can help you avoid unwanted disabilities.

congenital meaning before birth so I guess this is a disease of the heart present at the birth of the baby. The cause for this is either genetic or environmental (ie womb).

Leading cause is German Measles. Also taking drugs and alcohol can increase chance of babies being born with this defect.
