how do i motivate my lazy boy to do his chores? i tried rewarding him, scolding him and nothing!

TWINKLE - December 21st, 2010 4:02 AM

perhaps you need to up the ante a bit. offer him a bigger incentive and perhaps he might be motivated to do his chores more.

why not make a game out of your chores? it will make it seem more fun and interesting.

when you are able to convince him to do his chores make a fuss out of it and make sure to mention it to everyone! this way he will know that what he is doing is a good thing.

i like jennifer's suggestion. kids like to play and love games!

all kids hate chores. teach him a lesson by not cleaning his room unless he helps out.

Tameeka - December 29th, 2010 4:38 PM

reward him everytime he does his chores. this will motivate him to do it.

chores dont have to be boring and tiresome. make a game out of it, do it in a fun way or something. if it is a group activity ask him to participate.

itsmejoan - December 31st, 2010 2:39 PM

he really does not like doing chores. i feel like i am always cleaning up after him! and he is already 7 years old. i think he's going to become a slob!

he only chores when i get mad at him and he does it half heartedly! :(

bethdavis - January 2nd, 2011 2:57 AM

just dont give up on him. better to keep on reminding him and have him do his chores half heartedly than you giving up on disciplining him.

maryClaire10 - February 19th, 2011 12:59 PM

first thing you should know the cause of the laziness, but in any case a reward system should applicable in order to motivate him

most kids has lazy days or moments. i suggest you give him or her prizes or rewards after doing a chore.
