what is an appropriate punishment for lying?

Marie - December 16th, 2010 3:04 AM

how about no benefits for a whole week? if my kids lied to me then all their favorite things and activities would be banned for some time.

LovelyRuth - December 17th, 2010 4:24 AM

i think a lie merits a spank.

itsmejoan - December 19th, 2010 4:41 AM

if he is old enough to do manual labor... like weed pulling then that should be his punishment.

Tessa - December 19th, 2010 11:56 AM

i like itsmejoan's idea! it should teach them not to lie again...

eviemccoy - December 21st, 2010 3:45 AM

a lie is a major offense no matter how small the matter is. i think this calls for something hard and tough.

milkyway - December 25th, 2010 1:03 AM

how big is the lie? the bigger the lie the bigger the punishment should be.

bethdavis - December 26th, 2010 2:32 AM

a time out for minor lie and corporal punishment for major lie. you dont have to spank how about soing something they dont like example chores.

mommad - December 29th, 2010 3:05 AM

if you dont stop it then lying will become a habit. this merits the highest punishment you can give your child.

TWINKLE - December 29th, 2010 4:38 AM

my mom would wash our mouth with soap literally. i am not suggesting this. but the punishment should be something unpleasant.

elizabeth - December 29th, 2010 4:37 PM

how about being for at least a week depending on the severity of the crime.
