does your child's school require you to contribute for school supplies? do you think it is OK for the school to do so?

in nursery school we are asked to contribute for art supplies. for me it is OK since it is a parent assisted school.

perfectly fine with me even if it were a public school. perhaps they need help and it benefits the kids so it is OK for me to give some school supplies every once in a while.

me too. especially since there are a lot of cutbacks schools really need some sort of assistance. and is for the kids, so for me it is a good cause.

our school has already asked for donations of paper, pencils and art materials. i think it is good to help out.

if it is for basic supplies then yes. for more expensive things like tables and chairs I think this will have to be taken cared of by the school.

I know that budget is tight right now but households and families are also budgeting.

no. but if they asked then I would be happy to contribute. community spirit is important at this hard times.

I'm not yet a parent but planning to be pregnant very soon. For school supplies, it somewhat like food. We need to make sure that our child has enough things she or he needs for school.

it is never a requirement to contribute school supplies to their school. no policies or law says about it.
