how do you feel about your kids skipping a grade? after evaluation seems like my eldest is eligible to skip a grade...

it's OK with me but I'm not sure if she is "mature" enough to cope with kids in the 3rd grade.

hmmm... i think she will be OK. It's only one grade.

Congrats btw!

talk to her/him. if he feels up to it and thinks he can handle the pressure then i dont think it's a problem!

eviemccoy - December 13th, 2010 2:47 AM

i feel like I am holding back my child if i wont let her skip a grade. so i think this is OK with me. this way she can grow and explore more.

i agree w/ eviemccoy. kids should be able to reach their fullest potential.

if your child is OK then I think it should be fine. if it is only one grade there is very little difference among the kids behavior anyway.

i agree! kids should be allowed to explore and grow and not just physically but mentally as well.

thanks for the replies.

we are actually letting her skip. the teachers say that she is more than capable. plus she might get bored with grade 1 lessons so she is now in the second grade where the lessons are more up to her level! I am so proud!

emma_54 - December 22nd, 2010 3:22 AM

wow you must be really proud of her!

XeraSmith - December 25th, 2010 2:22 AM

wow super cool! give my congrats to your kid!

Innah - December 29th, 2010 2:59 AM

i would let her skip a grade but only if she feels comfortable with it. kids might be reslilient but they can also buckle under pressure. so if she is fine then its ok with me. the most important thing is to ask her opinion and take it into consideration first.
