My three and a half year old is developmentally delayed. She is doing very well but all of her skills are around the 12 month level. I have been told to expose her to more age appropriate toys and games to help her play with children her age. I have been introducing toys like the Fisher Price garage and she is loving pushing the cars up and down the ramps so already we have made a little progress. I am looking for ideas of toys your children played with between the ages of 2.5 and 4. I'm also trying to get her to enjoy more stories but she really loves one of her board books and is very resistant to change. She loves music too so we do lots of singing and basic dancing. I should mention that she still mouths and chews on everything so there are some safety concerns.

Hoping to get lots of ideas...

You can also her with educational toys like the shape sorting cube. It could help her determine shapes as well as figuring out where to insert it that would fit it.

My son is the same age as yours. Some of the toys he really enjoys playing with are the Fisher Price draw and erase board (has an attached pen for the board and larger sized stamps; no ink, just one of those doodle boards); building blocks - they make larger sized duplo and mega blocks to alleviate chewing/choking hazards; cars, cars, cars...you mentioned she already enjoys a garage set that you have...my son loves cars of any sort to do pretend races or firetrucks to have a pretend rescue team. finally, tools are always popular with us too. pretending to fix things around the house, "working" on projects.

oh, and for outdoor options, maybe getting her started with one of the scooters without pedals. we have a trike, but it may be easier to start with something like the razor scooter that the child just pushes along with their feet instead of having to master pedaling right away.
Hope this helps.

I have a daughter, almost 4 year old. Her favorites are: kitchen, baby dolls, doll house and little people sets.

Purses and bags are a huge hit too. My mom goes to Target and gets bags from the dollar section. She loves to fill them with toys and carry them around. Since they're only a dollar, they have lots of them and when they rip, we just get more. LOL

Wooden blocks for building towers is a hit here, so are the large duplo legos, a stoller for pushing things (i don't know if I've seen a doll in there for a while) kitchen, cars, little people castle, magnadoodle, and watercolors.Oh, and she loves loves loves bags and purses and lunchboxes to put her stuff in and carry around.

On books- I think being stuck on one book is totally normal. I started reading two books at a time a while back, but specified they had to be different books. At least I got some variety that way.

Duplo blocks, play kitchen and grocery cart or stroller w/food, Little People Farm (great for learning animals), dressup clothes (it doesn't need to be girly).

i go for educational and traditional games for developing a child's skills but i also exposed them every once in a while on the computer.
