my toddler had tonsillitis for 2 consecutive times within the last couple of months. My sister in law got alarmed when she knew about it, she said it is dangerous because it can lead to rheumatic heart disease. Is that true??

yep it's true. the bacteria that caused the tonsillitis if not properly eradicated may go down to the heart and cause RHD.

yes especially when you don't finish the antibiotics.

tonsilitis is usually caused by a virus or bacteria. it is better if you bring your child to a pediatrician especially if it recurrs. the virus or bacteria might be developing resistance to the antibiotics so your child might need a higher dose.
