Valentine's Day Crafts: Valentine's Day Pinata

The perfect valentines day party idea for the kids that'll make you feel young too!

What You'll Need

  • 1 brown paper grocery bag
  • tissue paper in red and pink
  • 24-inch string or yarn
  • hole punch
  • stapler
  • newspaper or other lightweight filler
  • small trinkets and candies
  • scissors
  • white craft glue

Instructions

Open the grocery bag and fill with various treats and trinkets until it is roughly one-quarter of the way full.

Fill remaining space with crumpled up newspaper. Make sure to leave a small amount of space at the top of the bag so that the bag can be folded over and closed.

Fold the top of the bag over and close using staples.

Poke or punch a hole in the middle of the bag in the fold. Be sure the hole is low enough so that it won't rip.

Cut long strips of tissue paper about 3 inches wide. Cut slits about halfway up the length of the tissue paper in order to create fringe the ends of the paper.

Starting at the bottom of the bag, glue the tissue paper to the bag by the solid edge only, being careful not to glue the fringe down. Repeat on the other side of bag using the same color.

Repeat the aboove steps, working your way toward the top of the bag. Alternate colors as desired.

Thread string or yarn through the hole at the top and tie a knot.

Gently place the bag on its side.

Cut strips of tissue paper about 1-inch wide. Fold the strips in half, then glue to the bottom of the bag at the half-way point.

    Let dry dry completely.

    Hang using a string.
