I know that too much sweets is bad for kids. But my 8 month old really likes Coke! This happened last thanksgiving when my MIL gave him some coke for his loose bowel movement. She said the caffeine would solidify his waste. And while it did sort of work, my son now likes coke!

Just dont give him too much. My youngest also has a sweet tooth which I use for discipline. If he is good then he gets a treat. If not then I eat the treat instead...

I remember that I gave my kids juice at this age so coke should be fine. Just a couple of sips though nothing more.

Most kids have a sweet tooth. The most important thing to remember is not to give them too much. Its hard to get kids to eat healthy after they've gotten used to sweets.

make sure you dont give them too much and that they brush or you brush their teeth afterwards!

sugar will make them more hyperactive. make sure you dont give them sweets before bed!

Then don't give him coke. He will get over it.

isn't it too early to give baby soda at 8 months?

genevive - December 11th, 2010 3:46 AM

yeah! soda is for older kids. I think juice is better than soda, but dont give him a lot!

LiSa - December 12th, 2010 3:45 AM

oh well... you can wean him out of it by giving it to him sparingly.

kim444 - December 15th, 2010 3:54 AM

grandparents are notorious for spoiling grandkids. Just dont give him as much. this way he still gets a treat but not a large amount.

XeraSmith - December 19th, 2010 10:18 AM

just make sure that she does not give him coke all the time. some sweets is fine but too much is also unhealthy for your baby.
