I need help. I have tried the Depo shot three times now and have decided that it makes me too depressed and I do not want to spend another three months in this foggy state of mind. Birth Control pills make me nauseous, although the mini pill worked well when I was BF. My husband is planning on getting "fixed" some day so I know he will be taking care of this long term. However, I need to get on something now. We are currently using condoms which tend to slip off sometimes so it totally ruins the mood. I was thinking of an IUD however, I think there is some type of string. Is this correct? This does not appeal to my husband or me. Any help would be great. Thanks.

i am taking bc pills, i think it will depend on the brand that you use. i tried experimenting different brands until i came up with a bc pill that had no bad effects on me.

I have taken Yaz and now I am taking Apri. They have both worked fine for me, but I really don't think they are that good for your body...just my opinion. I wish I didn't have to be on them, I am taking them for other medical reasons.

I have Mirena which is an IUD. It's great I don't have to think about it at all. Some people are bothered by the string, but it never bothered us and the Dr said that if it does bother us he can trim it shorter. Really it's easy placement and I would talk to your doctor

I took pills before we started trying, so I know that doesn't help you. But I have 3 friends with IUDs and they all love them. I know there's a way for the doctor to remove them, but I don't think there's any actual string that hangs out or anything.I think you should ask your doctor for more information, they'd know better than the average person.

I also have the Mirena, and it is awesome! Like the pp's said, there is a string, but we have never had an issue with it. The nice thing about the Mirena, is that there is no estrogen (which is why I take it because I have a blood clotting disorder), so the emotional roller coaster side effects are basically non-existant compared to estrogen based bc. There is also the copper option that lasts 10yrs (vs 5 with Mirena), and has no hormones at all.

Mirena is amazing! The first few months there is cramping and spotting and then wa la no period! It's great :)

I used to have a cervical cap that I loved, but it gave me genital warts and I had to stop using it. Now I use the Nuva Ring and love it (but I'm looking forward to throwing it away soon!

amazing how technology develops. we only use bc pills and condom and i am just amazed reading all these new and available bc procedure and items that we can use.

Yes and I was just kind of thinking to try one of these sometime. We are open to using artificial birth control techniques but just can't decide which one. We are only doing the rhythm method and although it is really effective we are still not satisfied with it.
