my son is in third grade and he has been staying in the same school since first grade however I noticed that he does not have a constant or regular set of friends. I'm assuming he is having a hard time making friends. He's a nice kid but I don't know what's going on. I asked his teacher but he didn't notice anything unusual at school. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it but I believe friends are important too.

maybe he has not had enough chance to make friends or he is naturally shy. What you can do is expose him to fun activities. Like maybe summer camps, or kids club... Get him involved in many activities with kids of his same age and interest.

perhaps your son has not found a best friend yet. if he is friends with a lot of people then its ok. the problem is if he does not have any friends at all.
