Festive Rice Krispie Shapes

Rice Krispie squares are a favorite of kids (and adults) of all ages, and they're super easy, so you can let your children get involved in making this fun and simple snack.

What You'll Need:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows (or about 40 large marshmallows)
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
Melt the butter and marshmallows together in a large pot over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in Rice Krispies until they are well coated and the mixture is sticky. Press into a greased 9x13 inch pan and let cool. Cut into squares.

Or, to make this recipe more festive, try creating Rice Krispie creations in different shapes, such as snowflakes or the Star of David. You don't even have to stick to flat shapes! Try making a large 3D snowman to decorate your table or lots of little 3D dreidels that your children can play with or eat! To stop the Rice Krispie mixture from sticking to your hands and making a sticky mess of your workspace, coat your hands and workspace in a thin layer of cooking spray or cold water.

You don't have to stick to just marshmallow in the Rice Krispies either - try adding peanut butter, chocolate chips, caramel, nuts, or food coloring; or you can roll your creations in sprinkles when they're done. Let your and your children's imaginations run wild!
